If you have a swarm of bees - DON'T PANIC. The first thing to check is if they are honey bees. If they really are honey bees then ring your local beekeepers association. For more details on how to check what you have got and get help see our swarms page.

Stores ready for Little Piece

We just need a short break in the weather to get over to Little Piece over the next week to be able to add the stores they need and also put on some mouse guards.

I managed to find a super of stores in our bee shed today that we had wrapped up and put aside when we did the shook swarms early this year and have transferred the frames to a national super.  So, that means we can not only replenish the stores on hive one at Little Piece with the stores we held back from the Rectory but we also have another super of stores that we could add to one of the larger colonies over there.  For the remaining hives we plan to add a brood frame of stores in the form of what is mainly stored fondant that we took off in the Spring.  However, I suspect the nuc may be in the same position as the one in the garden but we will take a look when we can and if it has a chance of survival we'll add some stores.

Let's hope the rain clouds move on soon and we can settle this apiary down for the Winter.
